If we're not to live a life of mediocrity, at some stage we will have to step out of our comfort zone! Doing so stretches and grows us and helps us to realise just what we are capable of doing. It also keeps us dependent on God as "... apart from Me you can do nothing" (John 15:5), but 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me' (Phil 4:13). Even if we fail, it is better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all. People far more often regret what they didn't do rather than what they did do. God calls us into some unusual, and sometimes tough, places and situations, because He desires to see His Kingdom come there. And He will use whoever will respond to Him and say, "Yes Lord, I give you my yes". We don't know what is on the other side of our 'Yes'. And it may be that we have to lay something else down first and that can be painful. If that’s necessary, we can be assured that He has that covered and will raise someone up to fill our shoes. We may have to retrain, or relocate, but if we are keeping our eyes fixed on Him, He will make our paths straight and open doors that otherwise would remain closed. And step by step, His calling will be heard and His plans fulfilled. So let’s give Him our “Yes, Lord”.
