Life, as they say, is full of choices. Our hearts pull one way, our heads another. Which way will we choose? Both will have consequences, but we don’t necessarily know what they will be. We have to guard our heart and not be misled by it. We also have to listen to our head but not be hardened by it. Laying everything before God will help us to focus on Him and choose according to His ways. It will help us to make the right decision, even if it’s a choice we really don’t want to make. If our decision is made in obedience to God's direction, we can be certain that He will be faithful and honour the decision made. David faced a choice with Bathsheba. He chose foolishly and paid the price by losing his baby son. However, God forgave him when he earnestly repented and Jesus was born of the line of David. Jesus knew the price that He would pay if He chose to go to the cross. But He also knew what would be won through making the ‘right’ decision - freedom from captivity for all of God's children for all eternity. He made the right choice in the most difficult of circumstances, not counting the cost. Most of our decisions are not so life changing for us. However, some are. So, if you are facing one today, focus your head and your heart on God, listen for His voice, and choose well.
